Backing up partitions and hard disks sounds like work — until youve tried Clonezilla. With Clonezilla you can clone and duplicate partitions of various formats and disks of various sizes locally or over the network. Even more impressive is the fact that you can do all this without typing complicated commands. And since Clonezilla is available as part of the GParted-Clonezilla live CD, you dont even have to install it.

The GParted project has released a LiveCD which allows Ghost-like efficient disk and partition imaging over a network.

UnlikePartimage or ntfsclone, which only for partitions. Clonezilla, containing some other programs, can save and restore not only partitions, but also a whole disk.
Unlike G4U or G4L, in Clonezilla, if file system is supported, only used blocks in harddisk are saved and restored. This increase the clone efficiency.

Need a way to resize NTFS partitions, mirror disk images, or otherwise muck about with disk partitions — and don’t want to use a proprietary package like Partition Magic? If so, the GNOME Partition Editor (GParted) is an excellent open source tool for the task. The GParted team released the GParted live CD version 0.2.4-2 this month, so I decided it was a good time to take GParted for a spin.
