Broken release: LiveCD 7.04 fails to boot on many PCs, on the same PCs 6.10 boots fine. Boot error:

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

Many Ubuntu users experienced and reported it. One of the reports was classified as "severity: medium", and now sits with no follow up for months. No warning on the home page, only congratulations how wonderfull we all (read: the Ubuntu team) are...
My stats: out of 20 PCs I tried half failed to boot 7.04, all of them booted happily 6.10, all different hardware.

Is this first time ever that a software developer decides to release a new self booting distribution knowing that it boots for less people then the previous distribution did? (this bug was reported and known well before 7.04 release). Looks like mixing commercial interest with Linux spirit did not work well for Ubuntu: new release is promised every 6 month, and indeed, 7.04 was on schedule, pity it works only for some...
